Evaluation of Shear Stress Transport, Large Eddy Simulation and Detached Eddy Simulation for the Flow around a Statically Loaded Tire

چکیده

To select a more suitable turbulence model to study tire aerodynamics, the characteristics of deformed profile 185/65 R14 passenger were reproduced using 3D printing technology. Based on distance from automobile chassis ground, partially loaded with height 150 mm was selected in this paper, and surface pressure coefficient determined wind tunnel test. A computational fluid dynamics (CFD) established according The results three models, shear stress transport (SST) k-ω, large eddy simulation (LES), detached (DES) obtained. Compared test results, mean relative errors coefficients predicted SST, LES, DES longitudinal section 22.4%, 20.9%, 14.8%, respectively. LES can capture details unsteady flow field that not by SST. By synthetically analyzing fields, is advantageous than other two models predicting around statically tire. This help designers industry apply these cost-effective tools for minimizing aerodynamic drag new design.
